Ardia 0.1.1: The ad blocker goes back to work while a lamb goes missing.

Fixed

  • Ad blocking works when the app runs from the disk image or Downloads. 0.1.0 loaded uBlock Origin Lite from inside the app, so Chrome wrote its filter indexes into the app bundle. That broke the code signature on first launch, and from a read-only location (the DMG, or the temporary copy macOS runs a quarantined app from) nothing was blocked. uBlock now runs from a copy in the data folder. Existing profiles carry over.

New

  • Where’s the lamb? replaces Chrome’s offline dinosaur: when you’re offline, find the lamb with the yellow bell in a flock of sheep, goats and dogs. Also at ardia://game.
  • Translucent window, like Dia’s: the desktop blurs through a tint in dark and light mode, and the window goes solid when it’s inactive.
  • Profile paging, like Dia’s: swipe and the next profile’s sidebar slides in while the window colour cross-fades. Page dots in the sidebar footer switch profiles too. Works with a trackpad, a Magic Mouse, or a wheel mouse’s horizontal scroll or Shift-scroll, and ignores the “Swipe between pages” setting, as Dia does.
  • Pinned tiles take the favicon’s colour when selected, as in Dia.
  • Import from Helium and Dia (bookmarks, history, open tabs, passwords, cookies), and from Safari directly (bookmarks, Reading List, history, open tabs) with Full Disk Access. Chrome and Brave now ask for Full Disk Access instead of silently missing from the list.

Smaller

  • The New Tab page’s intro plays once per tab, not every time you switch back to it.
  • The profile name in the sidebar header no longer gets cut off (“Hom”).

Now on 0.2.40

It kept going.

Ardia is a free Mac browser with Arc’s sidebar and Dia’s polish, on real Chromium. See how fast, or click around the demo first.
