Fixed
- Personal stays Personal after a relaunch. If you quit with a Work or Play window in front, Personal’s tabs ran as that profile the next time you opened Ardia, with its cookies and its history. This affected 0.2.19 and earlier. If it happened to you, Personal may be signed out of some sites, because sign-ins and passwords saved during the mix-up were stored in the other profile.
- Dragging a tab with tabs on top moves the tab, not the window. Pressing a tab in the top strip and dragging it moved the whole window, so tabs couldn’t be reordered. Now you can drag a tab along the strip, onto the page for Dia’s “Add left split” and “Add right split” targets, or out of the window to tear it off, with Dia’s picture of the window under the pointer. Drop it on another window’s tab strip and it lands where you let go. Drag a tab into the pinned tabs to pin it or out to unpin it, and move a group by its chip.
- The sidebar no longer doubles up. After leaving full-screen video (f, then Esc) or creating a profile, another profile’s sidebar could draw on top of the current one.
- Search for a selection is back in the right-click menu. Right-clicking selected text on a page offers Search
for “…” again, after Copy. It was missing in 0.2.19 and earlier. - 1Password’s Watchtower lists load. Extensions’ background requests sent “Origin: null”, which some servers refuse. 1Password’s lists of sites with two-factor sign-in and passkeys failed because of it. Extensions now send what Chrome sends.
- Ardia is faster. Compared with 0.2.19 in our benchmarks: launch to window takes 384 ms instead of 493 ms, a new window 69 ms instead of 124 ms, and opening 20 tabs costs the app 563 ms instead of 693 ms. Idle with one tab, it uses 0.37% CPU instead of 0.53%. Fades and slides now run on the native thread, so they stay smooth while the app is busy, and a page load sends the app fewer updates.
New
- Extensions see your bookmarks and history. History, bookmarks, recently closed tabs and site icons now live in Chrome’s own storage, so extensions that use bookmarks or history work with yours. ⇧⌘T brings a tab back with its Back history, even after a relaunch. Saving also stopped rewriting big files: opening 20 tabs now writes 0.3 MB to disk instead of 9.3 MB. Chrome keeps 90 days of history, so older visits are no longer kept, and ardia:// pages no longer appear in history.
- Extensions and the sidebar stay in step. When an extension moves, pins, opens or closes tabs or tab groups, the sidebar shows it, and extensions see the sidebar’s groups. Collapsing a group works both ways, as in Dia.
- Export your passwords. Settings › Passwords › “Export passwords” saves them to a CSV file and asks for Touch ID or your password every time.
- Settings › Passwords explains how to connect 1Password. 1Password only connects to a browser in your Applications folder that you’ve added in its own settings. If Ardia isn’t in Applications, the pane says to move it there and reopen it, then how to add it in 1Password › Settings › Browser › Add Browser.
- Zoom in a private window works like Chrome’s incognito. A site’s zoom level set in a private window applies only to that private session.
Smaller
- Passwords, addresses and cards, extensions, site zoom and search engines in Settings now go straight to Chrome’s own services instead of through hidden pages.
- The bookmarks bar shows at once when Ardia opens instead of waiting for the bookmarks to load.
- A group’s chevron turns with the group as it collapses, instead of a frame or two late.
- Extension popups, side panels and Picture in Picture no longer add visits to history.
