Terms
The fine print.
Ardia is free and made by a small team. These terms keep it that way: use it as you like, at your own risk.
Last updated October 30, 2026
1. Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Mantra Patel (“we”, “us”) covering the Ardia app, its updates, and ardia.dev (together, the “Services”). By downloading, installing or using the Services, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Services.
2. Open-source license
Ardia's source code is available on GitHub under open-source licenses, including the GNU General Public License version 3. Your rights to copy, change and share the code come from those licenses. Nothing in these terms takes away any right those licenses give you, and where the two conflict about the code, the license wins. These terms cover everything else: the builds we publish, the update service and the website.
3. Who can use the Services
You must be at least 13, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. If you use the Services for an organization, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.
4. Using the Services
Use Ardia for anything lawful. Don't use the Services to:
- break any law, or anyone else's rights;
- attack, overload or interfere with ardia.dev or the update service;
- pass off a modified copy as an official Ardia release, or distribute malware under the Ardia name;
- imply that we endorse you or your product.
You're responsible for what you do with Ardia and for the sites, downloads and extensions you open with it.
5. Your data
Your browsing data is stored on your devices and in any storage you choose for sync. We don't hold a copy and can't recover it for you. Keep your own backups: we aren't responsible for lost or damaged data, including data lost to a bug, an update, a sync problem or a deleted profile.
6. Other people's stuff
Ardia shows you websites, search results, extensions and other content made by people who aren't us. We don't control, check or endorse any of it, and we aren't responsible for it or for any harm it causes. Content blocking and safety features are best effort: they will miss some ads, trackers and harmful sites. Your dealings with third parties are between you and them.
7. Names and logos
“Ardia” and the Ardia logo identify our official releases. The open-source licenses cover the code; you may describe a fork honestly (“based on Ardia”) but please give it its own name and logo so nobody confuses it with ours. Ardia isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Google, The Browser Company or any other company whose products it's compatible with or imports from. Their names belong to them.
8. Updates, nightlies and changes
We may update, change, pause or stop any part of the Services at any time, with or without notice, including ending support for a version of macOS or stopping development entirely. Updates may install automatically. Nightly builds are unfinished test versions and are more likely to break, crash or lose data. You use them knowing that.
9. Feedback
If you send us ideas, bug reports or suggestions, we may use them freely, without paying or crediting you. Code contributions are covered by the project's contribution terms on GitHub.
10. No warranty
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, security and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We don't promise that the Services will work with every website, keep your data safe, protect your privacy or security against every threat, or be free of bugs, viruses or harmful components. You use them at your own risk.
Some places don't allow some of these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Mantra Patel and the project's contributors, maintainers and affiliates won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, accounts, passwords or business, or for security breaches, arising out of or relating to the Services or these terms, however caused and whatever the legal theory, even if told such damages were possible. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the claim (which, for a free browser, is usually zero) or US$50.
Some places don't allow these limits, so some may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud.
12. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used the Services, broke these terms or broke the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from it, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.
13. Ending this
You can stop using the Services any time by deleting Ardia. We may stop providing the Services to anyone at any time. Sections 5, 6 and 9 to 15 survive the end of this agreement.
14. Disputes
If something goes wrong, write to us at mantrakp@gmail.com first and give us 30 days to try to sort it out before taking any other step. Nothing here takes away rights that consumer law where you live gives you.
15. The rest
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Services.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, that part is limited as little as possible and the rest stays in force.
- Not enforcing a term isn't giving it up.
- You can't transfer these terms to someone else; we can, for example if the project changes hands.
- You're responsible for following export and sanctions laws that apply to you.
- We may change these terms by posting a new version here and changing the date at the top. Using the Services after that means you accept the new version.
