Ardia 0.2.44: The sidebar now sits on whichever side you like.

New

  • Sidebar on the right: pick Right under the layout cards in Make it yours, in Settings › Tabs › Sidebar position, or with View › Sidebar on Right. The window buttons move with it, and the hidden sidebar peeks in from the right and stays open while you look at it.
  • Share a pinned folder through iCloud Drive: right-click it and choose Share Folder… to keep it in iCloud Drive › Ardia Shared and share it with macOS’s own share sheet. No account needed. Links sync both ways, per profile, and open from Finder too.
  • Profiles that share browsing data can share their Top Apps, as Arc’s spaces share Favorites. Pin, rename, reorder or folder a tile in one and it changes in all, and each tile stays one live page across profiles. Each profile has its own switch in Settings › Profiles › Shared data, in its details and in its right-click menu. Thanks, @ymehili.
  • Set Ardia up from files, dotfiles style: settings, keybindings and themes can live in ~/.config/ardia/config.json and themes/<name>.json. Ardia applies them at launch and on every save, and never writes them back. The same file can add your own address bar rows, from a list, a URL template or a suggest endpoint.
  • Hooks: rules in ~/.config/ardia/hooks.json can rewrite or block links before they open, send links from a given app to a profile, file finished downloads into a folder, deny camera or microphone requests, or run a command when something happens. Anything that reaches outside the page you’re on waits until you approve it in Settings › Advanced › Automation.
  • The ardia command can drive Ardia: with “Let the ardia command control Ardia” on, it runs commands, lists windows, and ardia browse takes agent-browser’s commands and runs them on the Ardia you have open.
  • A real emoji picker for profile and sidebar icons: search, every emoji by category, and SF Symbols, with the current icon highlighted.
  • Share from the page menu: right-click to share selected text, an image, a link (trackers removed) or the page. File › Share › Share… is now ⌥⌘S.
  • Custom themes from the New Tab page: “Make it yours” now has the Custom swatch and the gradient editor from Settings.
  • The sidebar player shows the time left where its pause button was, ticking while it plays. Pause is one hover away.
  • New-tab links can stay in Little Ardia: turn on Settings › General › “Open new-tab links inside Little Ardia” and a link that would open a new tab loads in Little Ardia itself, so Back takes you back. Thanks, @narasaka.
  • A pull request folder can hide repos. Its menu has a Repositories submenu, as Arc’s does. Thanks, @maciekzygmunt.
  • Picture in Picture’s corners line up with the window’s: thrown into a corner, its curve nests inside the browser window’s rounded corner.

Fixed

  • Pages scroll smoothly with the sidebar open in the Glass style. Every Top Apps tile cost its own pass each frame, and scrolling stuttered. The tiles now render in one.
  • Typing some words with dashes and dots no longer freezes the address bar. Text like my-post.another-post.x: stalled each keystroke for seconds and could crash Ardia.
  • Three more crashes are gone: the green button’s Move & Resize and Fill & Arrange menus on macOS 27, any page that started a service worker while an ardia session was connected, and running low on disk space.
  • Picture in Picture works in WebKit tabs, including for a video embedded in another site’s player, and its Back to Tab takes you to the video when you were in a split view.
  • The top tab strip scrolls without sliding under the window buttons, closing a tab keeps the next tab’s × under the pointer, and a split tab opens wherever you click it.
  • Holding a swipe back opens the history list upward, as Dia’s does, with the nearest page at the bottom under your fingers.
  • The collapsed sidebar stays put while another app is in front: a hover over Ardia’s edge from the background no longer slides it out later.
  • A muted tab’s notifications are silent: muting a pinned mail or chat tab, or its site, also mutes the sound of its notifications.
  • Names save when you click away, so a profile name no longer needs Return.
  • The sidebar’s address field on a New Tab page goes straight to the page’s own search box when ⌘L opens in the centre, instead of stacking a second box on top.
  • Expanding Little Ardia while a link is still loading no longer leaves the tab on a blank page. Thanks, @narasaka.
  • The peeked sidebar’s traffic lights respond again when the address bar is in the toolbar. Thanks, @narasaka.
  • Tabs moved to another window land where “New tabs open at” puts a new tab, and never inside a group. Thanks, @daberni.

Smaller

  • Text sizes, corners, spacing and animation timing across the app now come from one small set of values, and look-alike controls are the same piece everywhere.
  • A tab group’s box is as tight below its last tab as above its header, and its last row rounds to match.
  • In the Glass style, the omnibox’s Go and Dictate buttons are liquid glass.
  • The pinned group’s emoji and a folder’s icons in the top strip aren’t cut off anymore.
  • Extension buttons stay quiet when the extension is already gone.
  • The bundled uBlock Origin is now 1.75.4.

Now on 0.2.43
